UFC 180 Fighters Visit Children's Rehab Center

MEXICO CITY – During their UFC 180 promotional activities in Mexico City on Wednesday, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Fabricio Werdum visited Televisa’s Rehabilitation Child Center, or CRIT.
The CRIT for disabled children is sponsored and produced by Televisa and more than 500 Mexican and foreign media; more than 100 commercial firms sponsor the annual 24-hour telethon event each December. The telethon's mission is "to provide knowledge about physical disabilities, giving a strong message about respect, equality and support to people in these conditions."
Velasquez and Werdum, who are the main event for the Nov. 15 UFC 180 event at the Mexico City Arena as well as competing coaches in the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America,” were joined on the children’s rehabilitation center by fellow UFC México fighters Kelvin Gastelum, Ricardo Lamas, Diego Sanchez, Jake Ellenberger, Norman Parke, Erik Perez, and Dodger Montaño.
The fighters made a full tour of the complex, where thousands of children are treated and rehabilitated every day. They learned how the patients receive care, and also where the children come from – most from low-income households, with little or no possibility of receiving private medical care and attention.
The UFC stars enjoyed their opportunities to interact with the children, discovering that they all share the same warrior spirit.
