As a fireman, he’s put out fires, and as a mixed martial artist he’s put out lights. Now UFC welterweight veteran Chris “Lights Out” Lytle is considering a 2012 run for the Indiana State Senate in District 28 or Indiana’s State House in District 53.
“I'm thinking about running because I feel we need new faces in there with the right intentions,” said Lytle in a press release issued Thursday. “My main concern is helping make Indiana a good economic environment for us and our children. I want to see if a normal blue-collar worker can make a difference.”
Blue collar through and through, the 36-year old Lytle, a married father of four, has been a fixture in the UFC welterweight division for years, winning eight post-bout awards in the process. In his most recent bout, he won the Fight of the Night award in a tough decision loss against Brian Ebersole at UFC 127 in February, and he is currently preparing for his August 14th main event bout against Dan Hardy in Milwaukee.
