UFC champ Cormier honored by California State Assembly

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier received an award from the California State Assembly Tuesday for his service to the city of San Jose and the state of California.

Cormier was honored by the award, but said he gives back because it's what he believes in.

"I truly believe that we are put in these positions to be a guiding light for young people around the world to follow," Cormier said on Instagram. "I don't help to be honored, but it felt good to know that people around the city notice."

Wanna thank the California State Assembly for having me and my family and friends over today. And a special thanks to assembly member Campos from San jose. Today I received an award for my service to my city. I truly believe that we are put in these positions to be a guiding light for young people around the world to follow. I don't help to be honored, but it felt good to know that people around the city notice. Once again thank you assembly member Campos again also the great state of California. I am truly honored!
