Rockhold, Weidman feud intensifies ahead of UFC 199 rematch

It makes perfect sense that the tension between current middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and former king Chris Weidman is at an all-time high going into their anticipated rematch in the main event of UFC 199.

Rockhold took Weidman’s belt. The two greatest 185-pound fighters on the planet are vying for one title, and only one man can claim the top spot.

Weidman said he is on a mission to reclaim his place atop the division.

“I want this fight more than any other fight I’ve ever had,” Weidman said at Wednesday's UFC 199 Media Day in Los Angeles. “I’m doing everything I possibly can now, more than ever, to beat him. I cannot go into that fight and lose.”

When Rockhold came face-to-face with Weidman at the Unstoppable press conference he told the former champ that he made a bad decision taking the rematch.

Rockhold plans to prove how bad a decision it was at UFC 199.

“[I want to] beat him worse [than the first time]. I want to go out there and stop him and leave no doubt,” Rockhold said. “This time I’m not going to break Weidman. I’m going to hurt him and finish him. It’s going to be quick, painless, and then he can go back home.”
