Nelson Makes U.S. Debut against Hathaway in July

Popular European star Gunnar Nelson will fight on U.S. shores for the first time on July 11, as he battles John "The Hitman" Hathaway in a UFC 189 welterweight bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tickets for UFC 189, which features Jose Aldo's featherweight title defense against Conor McGregor and the welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald, are on sale now.

A submission ace who has finished seven of his last eight bouts by tap out, Iceland's Nelson is looking to rebound from the first loss of his career to Rick Story last October. In England's Hathaway, "Gunni" will be facing a seasoned veteran who has won three of his last four, and who scored the biggest victory of his career over Diego Sanchez in Las Vegas back in 2010.
