Makdessi in for injured Khabib at UFC 187

With an injury to Khabib Nurmagomedov scratching him from May 23rd's UFC 187 event in Las Vegas, Canada's John "The Bull" Makdessi will step up to take on Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tickets for UFC 187, which features a battle for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Daniel Cormier and UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman putting his belt on the line against Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort, are on sale now.

Winner of seven straight bouts, including victories over Benson Henderson, Myles Jury and Eddie Alvarez, the number three-ranked Cerrone is closing in on a shot at the lightweight title, but first he must get by Montreal's Makdessi, who scored a spectacular first-round knockout over Shane Campbell at UFC 186 on April 25.
