Biography

TRAINING: My typical day of training starts with a morning session around 7am-9am, which could cover skills work, strength and conditioning, or sparring. The middle part of my day is generally free. Being a surfer and living by the beach, I like to surf or swim before a bit of down time at home. Then it’s off to my evening session, which will be skills based, wrestling, jiu-jitsu or striking.

When and why did you start training for fighting?
I loved the individual components of MMA - boxing and BJJ - and trained them to stay fit for my surfing career. I started competing in both and it led to MMA.

What ranks and titles have you held?
PWP bantamweight title, Combat8 bantamweight title and team member for Australia as a lightweight in 'The Smashes' TUF

Do you have any heroes?
BJ Penn, the ANZACS, Les Darcy

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
It’s the pinnacle of the sport that I have fell in love with and dedicated my last seven years to. It’s a huge honor to be part of the UFC.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
No - I finished high school though.

What was your job before you started fighting?
Professional big wave surfer and also finished my trade as a carpet layer.
