Biography

TRAINING: I like to train three times per day. I do boxing pads in the morning, conditioning and BJJ training with MMA gloves for the fight. Tuesday and Thursday are my MMA Sparring days. Basically, my other days are like that too and I also do kickboxing and wrestling. I’m an MMA fighter, so I need to practice and training everything.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started MMA five years ago, I wanted to change my life and I did. I got the opportunity to this after winning my world titles in jiu-jitsu. And why not? Let’s try a new thing. I love challenges and I cannot live without adrenaline.

What ranks and titles have you held? I’m Former South American Shooto Champion and The Ultimate Fighter 24 Contestant.

Do you have any heroes? Jesus is my hero. My idol is José Aldo Junior.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means everything to me. My whole career I expected get into the UFC and show who I am. I want to fight with the best. UFC is the world championship of MMA and I want to conquer this title one day. I want to change my life and help my family and wife.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I came from a poor family. They didn't have money to help me to get into college. But I'm so proud of them for supporting me in my career and in becoming the best Jiu-Jitsu fighter in the world. Now I'm on my way to get this title in MMA.

What was your job before you started fighting? My first job was as a car washer when I was 13 years old. When I was 18, I became a Brazilian Air Force Soldier for one year. It was a great experience.
