Biography

TRAINING: In the morning I go to a training session (private lesson). After that I go to work. After work, it’s training again! In the evening at 9pm I come home, eat something and at 22.30 I go to bed.

When and why did you start training for fighting? When I was 10 years old I started with taekwondo. At the age of 14 I got a black belt and at the age of 16 I got the 2nd dan. When I was 18 years old I stopped taekwondo because the school closed. Then I started with weightlifting. In 2001, me and my friend and teammate Gerald Turek found the first UFC DVDs in a shop. After that, we searched for an MMA club in Vienna because we were very fascinated with the sport. In 2002 we found the first MMA school in Vienna and we started MMA.

What ranks and titles have you held? 2nd dan black belt in taekwondo, Austrian MMA champion, WFC heavyweight champion

Do you have any heroes? Jean Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal - he he joke! ;) Fedor Emelianenko is my biggest heavyweight legend, Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez and Alistar Overeem are now my absolute heroes!

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s a big honor and pleasure to get the opportunity to fight in the UFC. To fight in the UFC is the goal and the dream for every fighter like me.

What was your job before you started fighting?
I work as a bodyguard until now!
