When and why did you start training for fighting? I started competing in Kickboxing and BJJ tournaments in 1998 before MMA became a household name. In 2001, a local MMA circuit started in Cincinnati and I decided after three years of doing BJJ and Kickboxing that I should really give MMA a try.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s a validation of the last 10 years of my life, for everything I left behind and all the opportunities I passed up to stay where I was with the team I am on to train in hopes of getting this opportunity.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Bachelors in Political Science from Western Illinois University; Masters in Business from University of Dayton
What was your job before you started fighting? Business Analyst
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? 2000 Pan-Am Bronze Medalist in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, 2x National Amateur Kickboxing Champion
Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Won the FFC 8-man tournament in less than 5 minutes, 11 first round submissions out of 15 wins
