Biography

Training Style

“I’m up at 8:00 in the morning. I take my son with me and we go to the gym. We both meditate. He’s only five years old and he’s been training since he was two. We go through a stretching Yoga routine. In the morning I do cardio; Stairmaster, bike, or swim and he watches me. We go back and I cook breakfast at my gym and then I open the gym at 12:00 pm. We do Muay Thai, submission wrestling, or everything goes and then I run classes all day until 9:00 at night. I teach at night and train at night as well.”

UFC History

At UFC 24 Lance defeated Jermaine Andre by knockout from a devastating knee to the chin in 3:37 of the third round.

More Information

“If you watch any of my fights you can see I’m a different fighter every fight. I adapt to my opponent. A certain person I’ll grapple the whole fight. The next fight, like against Severn, I’ll kickbox the whole fight. Whatever he does I’ll do the opposite.”

“I started martial arts at about age 5. I had a German teacher who taught Judo and wrestling before school opened. I grew up on some tough streets and I had to defend myself throughout those years. I did boxing as well. I had this toughness, but Matt refined the toughness with technique and skill. I met Matt on a fluke. I act; I’ve done movies with Jet Li and Jackie Chan. I did Romeo Must Die with Jet Li and DMX. I met my business partner during filming Rumble In The Bronx with Jackie Chan. Anyways, I was doing a play and I needed a place to stay while I was in Seattle. I looked at this one gym and someone told me about Matt. I went down to his gym and we just clicked right away. Matt’s stuff was very technical, very refined. It was an art. It became a science and a way of life for me. I trained with him for two years and then I opened my own school in Vancouver and now I’m back and forth."

After Rumble In The Bronx, in 1995 Lance teamed up with Chris Franco. "We started training together. He was doing more [of] the Thai Boxing and I was doing more [of] the wrestling and we put our stuff together." Soon after that Lance started competing in MMA fights.

Lance’s MMA record is 4 wins and 3 losses.

“This will be my second time fighting in Japan. I just fought there in July, beating Masanori Suda in Shooto. I fought him with a torn tendon in my ankle so I beat him on one foot in Japan. So that felt good. I’m looking forward to being healthy in the ring so that I can have another good showing in the UFC.”
