Biography

TRAINING: This camp is like every other camp, but this time I've been focusing on the holes in my game – jiu-jitsu and sharpening my striking.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in 2006. I started off doing it for fun, just kickboxing with my girlfriends. Then I continued with some amateur kickboxing fights. I also wrestled from 7-12 grade. As soon as I turned 18, I made my MMA debut.

What ranks and titles have you held? None

Do you have any heroes? My mom and dad. They helped me pave a way for myself in MMA and they support me 110%.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means a lot. I am very honored to be fighting for the UFC, and especially being the first female out of Hawaii it’s even more of an incredible honor and feeling. The UFC, to me, is like the NBA or NFL level of fighting.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I tried going to a community college right out of high school but things didn't work out. Maybe later on in the future I could go back to major in sport medicine or business. We'll see where my journey takes me.

What was your job before you started fighting? I worked at Office Depot in the print department. Then I moved on to an organic, vegetarian grocery store called Down to Earth as a cashier.
