Biography

TRAINING: I wake up, have a light breakfast and begin practicing some mental training techniques that my peak performance coach designed. I then head out to my first session of the day, which would either be strength and conditioning or a technical session with my coach Paul Abel and a few other teammates. After training, I run some errands, then I come home and rest. In the evening, I attend a striking, wrestling or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in martial arts when I was in University. My friend saw me hitting the heavy bag one day and asked me if I wanted to stick around for a Muay Thai / Karate class. I did the one class and I was hooked.

What ranks and titles have you held? I hold a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Royler Gracie. Pan-Asian Grappling champion.

Do you have any heroes? I look up to my head instructor Paul Abel

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s been a dream of mine since I started this journey. It’s such an incredible feeling to have all of your hard work come to fruition.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to the University of Guelph. I initially began studying Computer Science then I switched over to studying Philosophy and Psychology and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

What was your job before you started fighting? I’ve had many jobs – forest firefighter, deep freezer worker and, most recently, Personal Trainer.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? I won a four-man MMA tournament in Thailand in a weight class above mine.

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? 100% Finish Ratio
